Holy Shit It’s Only Wednesday. Thank God it’s almost over. That means that tomorrow is Thursday and I’m taking Friday off work so yay! Only a few more days until I can rest and not have to work an insane schedule.
Also, I. hate. my. feet. My right foot in particular. Of all the things I could have inherited from my father, I got his damned feet. Not his height. Not his strength. Not his ability to fix anything at all. Nope. I got the dried-skin-on-the-feet that itches like mad. I’ve been putting ointment on it to try to keep from going insane but Christ, it’s gotten REALLY annoying.
At least I’m not running the PuGs anymore. That means that Saturday I can relax all afternoon, get caught up on stuff, and maybe even find something more effective for this godawful itching on my ankle.
Story Updates
Tired
I’ve not been posting much lately because I’ve been worn out from work. I had to pull long hours this past week because of a major production issue we were having. As a result, I wound up working Saturday and Sunday (unusual for me). Luckily, I get a long weekend this week or else I’d be going out of my workaholic mind.
In other news: we’re discontinuing the PuG raids. Too much work, too much time, and too much loot drama.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have an important appointment with my pillow that just cannot be postponed.
New Chapters Added
Thanks to Crit for converting the .docs to .pdfs and uploading them for me. 🙂 Chapters 29 – 31 are now up for downloading on the Alayne’s Story page. The full story file has also been updated.
Latest Update Posted
I’ve just posted the latest update to Alayne’s Story over on the WoW-Europe RP forum. This week’s update starts the ramp-up to Gundrak and shows that not all trolls are like the Darkspear. Also, we get to see a glimpse of Zerith’s rather…unreasonable dislike of trolls in general. A lot of people think Zerith is one of the “better” characters but, the truth is, he has his dark side. He just tends to keep better control over it than Alayne or Ger’alin (though, both of them are learning to keep theirs reined in a bit better).
Why “new” novelists are old
I stumbled across this really interesting article yesterday that helped me to feel a little less like a failure that I’m 28 and, as of yet, still unpublished. Apparently, I’m pretty “young” for an aspiring novelist. 😉
Why New Novelists Are Kinda Old.
Debating
I’m seriously considering keeping Alayne’s Story to one update a week.
*ducks behind a shield*
I just haven’t had as much time to spare on it as I did with Parts I and II. And, I’m coming up to a brick wall where I am now. Until Blizzard releases some information on whether or not we’ll be able to kill/defeat Arthas and what the dungeon will be like for that, I’ve got no clue how to describe it other than to take my best guess at what they might do. And then, chances are they’re going to throw another curveball at us like they did with Ulduar (though, at least, it was kind of foreshadowed a bit through quests and dungeons in the game ahead of time).
So, my question is this: if I keep it to one update a week, would people prefer Monday or Friday or another day? If I can get back to two updates per week, it will be on Monday and Friday. However, unless work slows down a good bit, I may just not have time for a long while to crank out the material to make two updates per week sustainable long-term.
Latest Update Posted
I’ve just posted the latest update to Alayne’s Story over on the WoW-Europe RP forum. This covers the final quest in the Drakuru quest-chain over in Zul’Drak and begins the lead-in for the next part. The next few updates may seem a little confusing time-line-wise as they cover the same time period that we’ve just gone through but from a different perspective. I’ve been trying to work on my time-shifting skills and I’m hoping that this is less confusing than other attempts I’ve made towards this end.
In other news, I’m really going to update the chapters and the full story file this weekend. I keep telling myself I need to and this weekend, I’m going to find time to do it.

I have just posted the latest update to Alayne’s Story over on the WoW-Europe Roleplaying forum. This part covers the last bits of the Drakuru quest chain in Zul’Drak. Pretty interesting stuff if I do say so myself. I never really liked the thought of “one guy sneaking into a Scourge base and killing the commander” though. It made more sense to me that you would need an army to pull that stunt off. Luckily, Ger’alin and the others have an army. 🙂
Now to get cracking on next week’s work. If I can keep up the 15 pages a week for another two weeks, I can probably go back to two updates though I’ll have to scale them down to 8 pages posted a week instead of 10 posted. The 15 pages a week is doable but only if I do no work on The Unexiled and I’m not thrilled about that.
Ah well. At least I have Ulduar tonight. 🙂
Getting Closer…
I hate to say this aloud because every time we get to this point, all hell breaks loose and we wind up back struggling just to get one 10 man group going.
My guild is so close to having a 25 man group running I can taste it. We’ve had a lot of good recruits from the weekly PuGs we run and more people seem interested in raiding since Ulduar came out. Where some of these guys were when we were struggling through Naxx, OS, and Maly, I don’t know but…well…maybe they’ll stick around this time.
We managed to get Hodir down in Ulduar 10 last night as well. We got a good look at the Thorim encounter but never managed to aggro him (Arena group had issues). I think we’ll be going back there Monday or Tuesday to give it another try and hopefully we’ll get Thorim down. That would put us 9/14 in Ulduar. We also have a decent chance of getting a second 10 man group going this coming reset. That would be awesome.
Some people in our PuG have been asking about doing Ulduar 25. The answer is “not until the Legendary has become as common as dirt or is removed from the game entirely.” Seriously, we have enough loot drama over purples from Naxx (and we added one more name to the blacklist today from it). Can you imagine the whining that would commence over that orange? Even if we were up front and said “all legendaries go to Grognak and he passes on everything else” people would still bitch and moan. If there were a way to guarantee that it never dropped, I’d consider doing an Ulduar 25 pug. Until we get that option, though, I’m not taking random people in there. The most I’d consider would be teaming up with another guild with a clear agreement on the loot arrangement for those shards but that’s it. And, at any rate, we’re dangerously close to being able to do it ourselves so…
Well, I’m going to get back to working on Alayne’s Story and The Unexiled again. I just needed a short break. I’m making real progress on both. I’m kind of hoping to have The Unexiled finished by Christmas so I can try to get it published next year or something.
Ulduar Progress!
We finally got Ignis and Hodir down this week. We were trying Thorim just a bit ago but couldn’t manage to get through phase 1. Ah well, maybe Monday or Tuesday we’ll get him down.
Just added another five pages on Alayne’s Story. If I can just keep working this much on it, I may go back to two updates a week soon.
